News From ISTAT
ISTAT is at the Farnborough International Airshow
 With the first day of activities concluded at the Farnborough International Airshow on 16 July, ISTAT members and their guests convened that evening at Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel, for the ISTAT Reception. Attendees enjoyed an evening of networking, fun and relaxation at this historic property, which has been in consistent operation since the 1920s.
Members attending the airshow have also been taking advantage of the ISTAT Chalet throughout the week, for an air-conditioned break from the hustle and bustle of the show while taking in the spectacular views of the aircraft on display and flying overhead.
The ISTAT Chalet is open through Saturday (21 July), with children of all ages welcome on Friday and Saturday. Closing out the week will be the ever-popular ISTAT Charity Day on Sunday (22 July), when ISTAT welcomes patients from Shooting Star Chase, along with their families and friends, to the Chalet. Please note that the Chalet will be closed to ISTAT members on Sunday.

Connect with Colleagues at ISTAT EMEA
| ISTAT EMEA returns to Prague in September, and registration is open now. This always-popular event offers countless opportunities to network and create new, lasting business connections. Nearly 2,000 delegates are projected to attend this year's event, which will again feature keynote presentations, panel discussions and much more. The official hotel for the event is expected to reach capacity, so be sure to register and secure lodging quickly.

ISTAT Returns to Latin America
|
Save the date for the next ISTAT Latin America Forum. This year's event takes place 14-15 November at the JW Marriott Hotel Lima, Peru. Take a peek at program details, inclusive of a pre-event walking tour and surf lessons, and mark your calendar. Registration will open in August.

Foundation Happenings
Congratulations to the 2018 ISTAT Foundation Scholarship Recipients!
|
 This year, the ISTAT Foundation awarded nearly $425,000 to 49 aviation-focused students from 18 countries worldwide. The Foundation will award an additional $16,000 to 16 students in China at the end of the year. Click here to view the 2018 recipients to date.

ISTAT U 2.0 – Applications Open
|
The application for the 2018 ISTAT U 2.0 program (online version) is available to qualified, current students at universities around the world. ISTAT U is a specially designed one-year (six credit hour or global equivalent) aviation finance and leasing program. Admission requirements and application instructions are available at www.istat.org/istatu. The deadline for students to apply for enrollment is Friday, 31 August 2018.

ISTAT Humanitarian Grants Program – Applications Open
|
The Foundation provides humanitarian grants to charities globally that are designed to help save lives, promote human welfare and alleviate suffering by way of air transportation. Learn more about the humanitarian program and the application requirements at www.istat.org/humanitarian.The deadline for charities to apply is Saturday, 1 September 2018.

ISTAT Appraisers' Program
ISTAT EMEA – Appraiser Off-site Continuing Education
|
The EFW Airbus Freighter Conversion Tour will be held on Sunday, 23 September and will count towards the ISTAT Appraisers’ Program continuing education requirement. The event kicks off at 8:30 at the Prague Hilton and returns at 14:45 Transportation and meals will be provided. Please contact Helen Frech at helen.frech@efw.aero to RSVP.

Appraiser Exams
| Appraiser exams are starting a day earlier than in the past to allow exam takers to join the EFW tour. Appraiser exams for Appraiser Candidates will be held the afternoon of Friday, 21 September and all day 22 September.
Appraisers interested in sitting for the Senior Appraiser exam in Prague on the afternoon of Saturday, 22 September should contact Jeff Straebler at jstraebler@istat.org as soon as possible.

Passenger Demand Continues Strong Growth in May
| As reported by The International Air Transport Association (IATA), the month of May yielded 6.1% growth in passenger air traffic, when compared the same month in the previous year. This figure represents a slight uptick in growth over April 2017/April 2018's 6.0% growth figure.

Airbus, Boeing June Orders Surge; Deliveries at Record Levels
| According to figures released by the two manufacturers for activity in June, Airbus reported sales of approximately $20.6 billion (U.S.) for 100 commercial aircraft, while Boeing reported sales of approximately $32.6 billion (U.S.) for 232 commercial aircraft.

Global Aerospace Industry May Be at Record High
| Based on findings in a research project conducted by Aerodynamic Advisory and Teal Group, the global aerospace industry was responsible for direct revenues of $838 billion (U.S.) in 2017.
