Revisiting Another Successful Edition of ISTAT Asia
The eighth annual ISTAT Asia conference wrapped up in Singapore last week, and provided those in attendance with an inside look at the issues and opportunities facing the industry in the Asia-Pacific region and built on the momentum established in the event's previous years.
With nearly 800 attendees, the event brought in a cross-section of the industry, by giving a platform to keynote presenters and panelists.
The Ritz-Carlton Millenia served as the host property for the event, and a healthy amount of education, forecasting, analysis and networking was packed into three very full days.
In addition, panel discussions and conference proceedings kicked off with a welcome message from Dr. Beh Swan Gin, chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board, and showcased a keynote presentation from Dick Forsberg, head of strategy, Avolon.
Be sure to look for a more comprehensive recap in the summer issue of Jetrader. Presentations and photos are available via the ISTAT mobile app and the ISTAT website, and don’t forget to make plans to attend next year’s event in Shanghai, 7-9 May, which will feature a new, one-day workshop. Be on the lookout for more details throughout the year.

Evolution of Technology in the Engine Market
Rather than invest large sums of money in the development of clean-sheet airframe designs, in recent years, OEMs have elected to redesign, improve and re-engine already successful airframes for the next generation of aircraft. In many of these cases, the engine accounts for a significant proportion of the efficiency savings.
Innovation in the aero engine industry is a constant process to stay one step ahead of the competition.
