ISTAT 2020 Events Update
When we last met face to face in Austin, the world was a different place. As I mentioned in my president's letter from the summer issue of Jetrader magazine, since that time we have all adapted our daily lives through creativity and technology. Similarly, the ISTAT Board of Directors has met regularly (using technology) and discussed how ISTAT is adapting in these same ways.
After much dialogue with key stakeholders, a survey of past conference delegates and considerable evaluation of the evolving situation around the globe, the ISTAT board has decided to cancel both ISTAT EMEA and the ISTAT Latin America Forum. We apologize for any inconvenience these cancellations may cause to you and your businesses. We were hopeful that we would be able to meet for these events, but our members' well-being is of primary importance, and we do not believe the conditions are safe enough for us to host them this year.
Over the years, ISTAT events have served as regular opportunities for us to gather, work and celebrate together as colleagues. This spirit of unity will not be lost in 2020. At this time, we are still planning to host ISTAT Holiday Receptions in four locations: Dublin, London, New York and Tokyo. These annual receptions on the first Wednesday in December may look a bit different than they have in the past; however, we want to ensure that we offer an opportunity for the ISTAT community to connect in a safe way. Additional details will be forthcoming as plans take shape.
In addition, the ISTAT Foundation is still hosting the second annual Dublin Golf Tournament on 17 September at The Golf Course at Luttrellstown Castle Resort. We look forward to hosting up to 90 golfers next month, and interested golfers can contact the Foundation to be added to the waitlist.
Finally, ISTAT leadership and staff have been hard at work designing new opportunities for our constituents to gather and learn together online. Through ISTAT Online, industry leaders are providing inspiration, counsel, and insight into various topics within the commercial aviation industry. These weekly programs are available to industry professionals to foster growth, education, and dialogue at this very unique time in history.
So, while we will not be able to meet face to face as we typically do in October and November, we look forward to connecting in other ways this autumn and to welcoming you to another ISTAT event in the future.
Regards,
Gerry Butler
ISTAT President
