ISTAT Asia Cancellation Notice
Dear colleagues,
Earlier this month I shared a message that the ISTAT board of directors was monitoring the impact of COVID-19 and evaluating whether or not we would proceed with hosting our annual ISTAT Asia event in Hong Kong in May. After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of the evolving situation, the board has decided to cancel ISTAT Asia in 2020.
This is not a decision that was made lightly. While ISTAT continually strives to provide valuable networking opportunities for its members, the health and safety of our constituents is of utmost importance. With continued spread of the virus, airline carriers who have reduced service into the region for the next several months, and broader travel restrictions imposed on many members, holding an event in the region anytime in the near future did not seem prudent.
We appreciate that this international public health situation is one that is out of everyone’s control. We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause to you and your business needs; however, we look forward to welcoming you to another ISTAT event in 2020 or to ISTAT Asia in 2021.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to ISTAT Executive Director, Julie Wichlin, at jwichlin@istat.org.
Best regards,
Gerry Butler
ISTAT President
