ISTAT Asia Update
As you are undoubtedly aware, the Coronavirus Outbreak has been making headlines around the world for the past few weeks. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared an international public health emergency as it has now reached many other countries outside of China.
Many carriers have reduced frequency and/or service into the region. Additionally, many organizations have imposed broader travel restrictions to reduce potential exposure. We realize you and/or your organization may be impacted by these restrictions.
On behalf of the ISTAT Board of Directors, I would like to assure you that we are continuing to monitor the situation to determine whether or not we will proceed with hosting our annual ISTAT Asia event in Hong Kong in May. We will publish a more formal update in the next few weeks, as we appreciate that, as our prospective attendees and sponsors, your planning is impacted by this decision. We recommend avoiding making any non-refundable and/or non-cancelable travel arrangements until further notice.
Thank you for your patience as we work to evaluate the best course of action.
If you have questions in the interim, please feel free to direct them to ISTAT Executive Director, Julie Wichlin, at jwichlin@istat.org.
Best regards,
Gerry Butler
ISTAT President
